Summary
The nature of some traps in NaCl, KCl, KBr is investigated by means of correlated experiments on photostimulated thermoluminescence and optical absorption. The glow peaks centered at 149 °K in KBr and at 340 °K in NaCl are due to the thermal release ofF′ electrons; the activation energyE and the frequencyv 0, characteristic of theF′ glow peaks in NaCl, KCl, KBr are:E F′ (NaCl)=(0.91±0.06) eV,E F′ (KCl)=(0.537±0.005) eV,E F′ (KBr)=(0.35 ± 0.01) eV; logv 0 (NaCl)=12.3±0.5, logv 0 (KCl)=11.4±0.2, logv 0 (KBr) = 11.1±0.3. Furthermore, comparison of photostimulated thermoluminescence measurements with optical absorption at the maximum of theM band strongly suggests that the traps which are responsible for the glow bands at 228 and 241 °K in NaCl are due toM′ centers.
