Abstract
The composition of gum oleoresin from P. sylvestris L. from different sources in Central Europe, Scotland, Turkey, and Spain has been investigated. Clear differences could be found only in the turpentines. Samples from Central Europe and Scotland contain relatively high amounts of Δ-carene. This compound could be identified in Turkish oils only in traces while it was not present in the Spanish turpentines. However, the qualitative composition of the diterpenes is in very good agreement regardless of the source. Small quantitative differences are within the natural variation.
