Abstract
Sublimates were collected on Mt Etna in the gas escaping from the surface of an active lava flow. Deposition occurred on the wall of a silica tube. Temperatures of deposition for the different sublimates collected were recorded continuously with 6 Thermocouples along the tube.
At high temperature (300 to 860 °C) the sulfates of sodium, potassium and iron deposited.
Halogen were collected at low temperature with copper, zinc and nickel chloride; copper was also associated with sulfates.
Résumé
Des sublimés ont été récoltés à l’Etna en 1976 dans les gaz émanant de la voute percée d’une coulée de lava active.
Le dépot se met naturellement en place le long d’un tube de silice refroidi naturellement à l’air.
Le gradient de temperature étant enregistré de façon continue il est possible de connaitre la temperature de dépot de chacun des constituants.
Les sulfates de sodium, de potassium et de fer cristallisent à hautes temperatures (300 à 600 °C).
Dans les basses temperatures on voit apparaitre les halogènes.
Le cuivre a été observé incorporé à des agregats de sulfates.
Les chlorures de cuivre de zinc et de nickel ont été observés à basse temperature.
