Abstract
A relation between the photon-number-tomography formalism and the formalism of q-oscillators is established. The parameterq is interpreted as the parameter determining the ordered quasidistribution function. The density matrix in terms of a “marginal distribution” used in photon-number tomography is shown to be expressed in terms of a q-commutator defining the properties of q-oscillators.
