Abstract
A number of effects is observed that attest to the anomalous character of the interaction of radiation with plasma corona, including formation of a perturbation on the electron-density profile, the appearance of an “opacity” zone in interferometric investigations of plasma, a “singularity” in the region with critical density, jetlike character of the plasma luminosity in the x-ray region of the spectrum, etc. New methods are developed for the diagnostics of a nonstationary dense plasma. An experimental investigation was made of the stability of compression of hollow shell targets, and a volume compression of the shell by a factor of several hundred is registered.
