Abstract
Using a high-finesses Fabry-Perot structure, we examine the behaviour of discotic liquid crystals for possible biaxiality. This is done by confining the discotic liquid crystals in the Fabry-Perot cavity and examining the mode structure in presence and absence of an applied electric field. It is concluded that at least in the discotic liquid crystal that we have examined, there is no evidence of biaxiality.
