Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
Fifty-eight meningiomas were studied histochemically for the activity of alkaline and acid phosphatase, unspecific esterase, a number of oxidative enzymes and phosphorylase.
-
2.
The meningiomas in general contain rich alkaline phosphatase and phosphorylase, moderate oxidative enzymes and acid phosphatase. Esterase is demonstrated only sparsely.
-
3.
There was a close correlation between the appearance of alkaline phosphatase and the presence of calcification. The role of this enzyme in the process of the calcification is discussed.
-
4.
A group of meningiomas, which is signed as “rapidly growing”, reveals an enzymatic pattern strikingly different from the others. The tumorcells of this group show no alkaline phosphatase, less phosphorylase and acid phosphatase. On the contrary, the activity of esterase and oxidative enzymes is stronger.
