Zusammenfassung
Anhand experimenteller Studien “in vitro” wurde die therapeutische Wirkung des Trypsins bei der Keratitis dendritica des menschlichen Auges (Herpes simplex der Hornhaut) aufzuklären versucht. Es konnte gezeigt werden, daß das Enzym das Herpes simplex-Virus in seinen verschiedenen Entwicklungsphasen, beobachtet an der Chorioallantoismembran des Hühnerembryos, durch Proteolyse in hohem Maße inaktiviert.
Auf die sich in der Virusreproduktion befindende, vitale Zelle, studiert an permanenten, menschlichen Amnion-(Fl-)Zellen, scheint Trypsin keine spezielle Wirkung auszuüben. Eine selektive Ausmerzung solcher virusinfizierter Zellen scheint durch Trypsin nicht stattzufinden.
Trypsin baut Receptorsubstanzen in der Wand normaler Zellen ab, wodurch ihre Fähigkeit zur Bindung des Herpes simplex-Virus wenigstens zeitlich begrenzt herabgesetzt wird.
Detritus von Zellen, die durch den cytopathogenen Effekt zugrundegegangen sind, wird durch Trypsin, angewandt als Augenbad, aufgelöst stens zeitlich und abgeräumt.
