Abstract
Optothermal methods for the study of UV laser ablation are discussed. Pyroelectric and photoacoustic measurements for PMMA and Al irradiated at 193 nm are reported. Ablation thresholds are estimated. The different mechanisms contributing to the signal generation are discussed.
