Abstract
The standard four wave mixing model in a sluggish photorefractive medium is used to calculate the transient response of a phase conjugate resonator. General trends are unveiled and discussed in view of the possible use of the system in image processing. Experimental results are shown to confirm qualitatively the predicted behaviour.
