Abstract
The total number of cells in the brain of a worker and a drone of Apis mellifica was calculated by counting the nuclei. The worker's brain contains 851.458 ± 15% cells, while the drone's contains 1,209,681 ± 15%. The total number of Glia cells is estimated to be a little more than 5% of the total number of cells for both castes.
