Abstract
The Tropes of War: Visual Hyperbole and Spectacular Culture presents us with important perspectives on war and conflict. This book demonstrates how strongly writers, photographers, and filmmakers can influence war and conflict. As Greenbaum points out, warmongers have exploited the power of the pen and the media to further their aims for a long time, and, unfortunately, instead of using the media to help mitigate conflict, it is often used to incite and increase it. Those who want to see conflict persist are dependent on it to foment the kind of intense hatred that will motivate people to support war.
