Abstract
This outstanding volume highlights major dilemmas facing US foreign policy, as offcials in Washington assess the rise of emerging powers such as Brazil and the challenge they pose to the US-led liberal international order that emerged after World War II and became the dominant organizing principle for global affairs after the collapse of the Soviet Union. As perceptions of US dominance change, Brazil’s support for the rule of law, human rights, and the Global South coupled with its opposition to American hegemony provides the nation with opportunities to wield signifcant infuence in the decades ahead.
