Abstract
At the time of writing this chapter, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is in the final stages of preparing its Fifth Assessment Report: a comprehensive review of peer reviewed climate science. The Fifth Assessment Report, like previous IPCC reports, can be expected to confirm the link between greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increased atmospheric concentrations of GHGs and increasing average global temperatures. It will also present up-to-date information on the likely impacts of climate change and, according to its website, promises a greater focus on socio-economic dimensions of climate change, compared to previous Assessment Reports.1
