Abstract
In this chapter we will see that rejection feelings such as homophobia or racism very often do not belong to the individual scope but to our social range, as this extract from Forster’s work reflects: ‘Nonetheless, it wasn’t worth protesting due to the circumstances, and in reality I didn’t want to do that, because their racial prejudices were more tribal than personal, and only cranked up when an observer was present.’1
