Abstract
I woke up on the morning of my last classes for the semester knowing I had to do something differently. At the beginning of the week, I had gone into the classroom feeling overwhelmed—and it showed. I was trying frantically to cram in everything I thought the students had to know before we parted ways at the end of the week. I was babbling, really. I simply could not find one point of focus. Reflecting on that moment of pedagogical floundering, I knew something needed to change. And so, as I inhaled deeply and greeted the morning, I began to reflect on where I’d become so lost and to imagine what I could do differently—much differently.
There is a way between voice and presence
where information flows.
In disciplined silence it opens.
With wandering talk it closes.
