Abstract
Air pollution is one of the biggest problems that threatens the wellbeing of human life. Monitoring of such air pollution and controlling them is mandatory especially in the hospital environment. For the past two decades, Smart wireless sensor technology has extensively come up in design and sensor development. Plenty of research and fabrication techniques are being done globally, including in government laboratories and hospitals. This paper proposes the first indications of hospital air pollution monitoring system using smart wireless sensor and LabVIEW. A prototype comprising of three different types of gas sensors such as MQ135, MQ4, and MQ7 integrated with the ATmega 16 microcontroller and an application in LabVIEW equipped with remote monitoring has been developed. The different components of air pollutants and their concentrations in air are determined by the sensor system and communicated wirelessly to the remote destination by ZigBee technology. The concentrations of different air pollutants in ppm is also displayed graphically in the LabVIEW. This proposed system facilitates hospitals by remotely monitoring air quality and to take required action on sensing increased pollutants level above the acceptable range. It has been demonstrated to be quite use full for determining the quality of air in hospital environment and its surroundings. It is also of great importance for the health of hospital patients and health workers.
