Abstract

The internet has been enhanced by two types of emerging computing networks over the past decades, and these are: Internet of Things (IoT) and Blockchain technology. Blockchain was primarily developed for secure transactions in connection with the Bitcoin mining. A blockchain network is a distributed network of processing nodes designed for storing “well-formed” transactions online in a special database known as a Blockchain ledger. The IoT is a connection of disparate digital things that are all equipped with sensors and software for various forms of robotics and surveillance. This paper focuses on the significance of integrating IoT devices with the blockchain technology so that trust is ensured among the IoT devices. Generally, it will firstly give a survey of blockchain and IoT with the security aspects of IoT. Finally, this paper also presents a comparison between the integrated blockchain-IoT devices and traditional IoT system.
