Abstract
On both a global and regional scale, more particularly in Morocco, peri-urban territories are the result of significant spatial reconfiguration and major socio-demographic and economic transformations. The issues related to the phenomenon of peri-urbanization are numerous and continue to be at the heart of several studies and research. In the same vein, this article seeks to analyze one of the major problems caused by peri-urbanization, that of the inadequacy of the transport system. Given its galloping demographic growth and its accelerated urban expansion, the agglomeration of Rabat-Témara proffers an interesting case study to analyze. The objective is to examine the underlying factors behind this phenomenon in an effort to understand the nature of the existing relationship between the transport system and socio-spatial segregation. To answer this research question, this paper will be structured around the following methodology. The first step is to establish a literature review by borrowing the theories and doctrines on the subject under study. Secondly, we will establish a statistical and spatial analysis through cartography and the geographic information system, in order to verify the theoretical links empirically. The results of this article confirm the existence of a close link between the phenomenon of peri-urbanization, the transport system and segregation.
