Advances in Tourism, Technology and Systems

Abstract

Industry 4.0 has proven to be one of the most important milestones in global society, as it has been changing the way in which companies produce their products and services and in a way, change the habits of the entire population. Thus, it is possible to affirm that Industry 4.0 is a historic landmark. The main objective of this study is to contribute to the empirical evidence on the relationship between industry-technology and Industry 4.0, which, despite seeming evident from the outset, is at no time portrayed in the literary review carried out in the time span of the last 15 years (2006–2021). Throughout this study, it was possible to observe some of the different areas addressed in the literary review of the industry-technology relationship, thus understanding which areas benefit most from this relationship. It will also be possible, attributing fundamental determinants to the functioning and growth of a company, to understand in a way the role of Industry 4.0 within these determinants.
