Abstract
This paper intends to make an integrative review on compulsive buying, defining the concept, distinguishing it from impulsive buying and articulating it with the following concepts: contingent self-esteem, etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, family history, medical screening, symptoms, psychological and pharmacological treatment.
