Abstract
In the telecommunication industry, the Fifth Generation (5G) technology has been developed to provide high data rates with better spectral efficiency. To achieve the benefits of 5G technology, the multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) and universal filter bank multi-carrier (UFMC) are cast off. In this paper, the concert investigation of OFDM and UFMC is likened concerning PAPR and BER. It is experiential that the PAPR and power spectral density (PSD) of UFMC are healthier than OFDM, but BER is vice versa. To attain the benefits of spatial multiplexing, the 2 × 2 MIMO is united with OFDM and UFMC such that the performance scrutiny of MIMO-OFDM and MIMO-UFMC is also carried out concerning PSD and PAPR. The results confirm that PAPR and PSD of MIMO-UFMC are improved than MIMO-OFDM. Hence, MIMO-UFMC is a better choice than MIMO-OFDM for 5G and beyond applications.
