Abstract
Self-organizing networks such as mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are less secured networks which are more vulnerable to different kinds of attacks. The most common attack of ad hoc networks is the black hole attack which disrupts the transmission of data by using malicious nodes. In this paper, secure transmission of data is provided by identification of black hole attack. For this purpose, a hybrid protocol is proposed which includes the concept of AODV for path discovery, EECBR for packet forwarding under black hole attack and the greedy routing for the reduction of network overhead during path selection. The proposed protocol is simulated in the virtual environment by exposing malicious nodes in the network. Simulation results indicated that the protocol improved the network efficiency and routing overhead under black hole attacks.
