Abstract

This study reports the design of a novel four element ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna array with WLAN band notched. The antenna covers 2.7–12 GHz impedance bandwidth for the magnitude of S11 < −10 dB. The band notching is achieved in 5–5.8 GHz WLAN band by implementing a complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) on the radiator of the antenna. The proposed antenna is uniplanar with overall size of 44 × 44 × 1.6 mm3 and is studied for impedance bandwidth, the radiation patterns, peak gain, envelope correlation coefficient and the diversity gain. CST MWS is used for analysis of this MIMO antenna design. Proposed antenna has achieved more than −20 dB isolation between the radiating elements and monopole-type radiation patterns having satisfactory gain in UWB band.
