Abstract
The concluding chapter aims to provide a synthesis of the book and identify themes that relate to community practices and social development. It corresponds to the editorial introduction that acknowledges the purpose of the collection as a whole. The chapters in this volume reveal strategies and approaches that contribute to the directions community practices and social development have taken in recent years. These include social work’s response to changing demographic, economic, political, and social environments at various levels. It is evident that social work values and principles inform the authors’ understandings of community practice and social development in diverse contexts. This chapter draws particularly, but not exclusively, on the chapters in this collection.
