Abstract
Service-learning provides an application of academic knowledge in real-life contexts through the process of meeting community needs. It offers university students a chance to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and to develop competencies related to leadership , communication skills, and professionalism. With financial support from the Wharf (Holdings) Limited (the Group), a corporate–community partnership program “Project WeCan ” has been launched to help secondary school students from the underserved community . In this chapter, we evaluated the effectiveness of this project through credit-bearing service-learning courses. Using multiple evaluation methods, different stakeholders provided their feedback on service-learning experiences. Service recipients (secondary school students ) and service partners (secondary school teachers) perceived the service experience positively and satisfied with the community –university partnership . University students reported favorable changes in their academic and personal growth after participating in the service-learning activities . Findings suggest the positive impact of the service-learning experiences in corporate–community –university partnership in promoting students’ academic , psychosocial, and leadership development .
