Abstract
Outdoor education is a broad field informed by several different learning theories and psychological perspectives. The psychological perspectives include, but are not limited to, behaviourism, humanism and cognitive development. Among the learning theories that influence the outdoor education field are constructivism, which includes Vygotsky’s work, Dewey’s experiential learning theories, and Bandura’s social cognitive theory (Merriam & Caffarella, 2001; Propst & Koesler, 1998).
