Abstract
History narratives have played an increasing role in political discourse in the Russian Federation over the past two decades (Bialer, 1989; Davies, 1997; Sherlock, 2007; Smith, 2002; Wertsch, 2002). This can be seen in political discourses, mass media, and “approved” course texts for schools. On May 15, 2009, President Dmitry Medvedev established a commission to investigate and analyze attempts to “falsify history against the interests of Russia.”
