Abstract
Recent studies of aging Indian diasporic populations focus on grandparents who emigrate from India to be with their children or are in the U.S. seasonally. The post-1965 immigrant generation has been in the U.S. for almost fifty years and while the group is seen as a historic generation there have been relatively few accounts of their lives as seniors in the U.S. In Indian Diaspora: Voices of the Diasporic Elders in Five Countries, the editors point out the different aspects of aging including “physical, psychological, and social aging.”
