Samenvatting

Schematherapie is een effectieve behandeling voor persoonlijkheidsstoornissen. In dit hoofdstuk wordt ingegaan op de theorie achter deze therapievorm en de ontwikkelingen hierin. Stond eerst vooral het schemamodel centraal, tegenwoordig werkt men voornamelijk met schemamodi. Het schema- en modusmodel zijn echter nauw verwant. Er wordt nader ingegaan op de onderlinge samenhang van schema’s, copingstijlen en schemamodi. Vervolgens worden de verschillende fasen in schematherapie beschreven en passeren de belangrijkste therapeutische technieken de revue. Tot slot wordt een overzicht gegeven van de resultaten van het onderzoek naar (a) de psychometrische kwaliteiten van de verschillende vragenlijsten die kunnen worden gebruikt binnen schematherapie en (b) de effecten van de behandeling.
