Sport als politisches und gesellschaftliches Instrument in Grenzräumen

Zusammenfassung

Gemeinsame sportliche Aktivität besitzt neben vielen weiteren Aspekten auch eine integrative Wirkung und gilt als ein grundsätzlich sehr geeignetes Medium für gegenseitiges Kennenlernen und Vertrauensbildung. Da Sport vorher vereinbarten Regeln folgt, spielen zudem sprachliche und kulturelle Barrieren eine untergeordnete Rolle. Dementsprechend wird dem Sport auch ein bedeutendes Potenzial in Hinblick auf die Förderung nachbarschaftlicher, zwischenstaatlicher Kontakte und hierbei insbesondere der grenzüberschreitenden Integration auf lokaler Ebene zugesprochen. In diesem Beitrag wird Sport als Instrument in der grenzüberschreitenden Kooperation diskutiert und am Beispiel des Wandersports die Rolle der deutsch-französischen Grenze reflektiert.
