Zusammenfassung

Die emotionale Regulationsstörung ist mitverantwortlich für das typische Muster von Instabilität in zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, für die Verwirrung im Selbstbild, für die Impulsivität, Stimmungsschwankungen und Selbstzerstörung. Betroffene sind geprägt durch das verzweifelte Bemühen, in der realen Welt ihren Platz zu finden und zu überleben. Im Kapitel Schmerz und Emotion wird auf Zusammenhänge zwischen Störungsbild und somatischen Problemen eingegangen. Sowohl akute als auch chronische Schmerzen sind untrennbar an Emotionen gekoppelt: Angst, Wut, Verzweiflung, Hilflosigkeit und Resignation. Dies ist ein wichtiges Kriterium in der modernen Schmerzmedizin und -therapie.
