Zusammenfassung
Die Sepsis ist eine lebensbedrohliche Organfunktionsstörung aufgrund einer fehlregulierten Entzündungsreaktion des Körpers auf eine Infektion. Verdachtshinweise auf das Vorliegen einer Sepsis sind 3 Zeichen: ein Abfall des systolischen Blutdrucks auf < 100 mmHg, Bewusstseinsstörungen und ein Anstieg der Atemfrequenz auf > 22/min (qSOFA-Score). Trotz intensiver Bemühungen ist die Letalität der Sepsis mit 30–50 % weiterhin unverändert hoch. Eine frühzeitige Diagnosestellung und ein sofortiger Therapiebeginn ist für das Überleben der Patienten von entscheidender Bedeutung.
