Zusammenfassung
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) ist eine Psychotherapiemethode, die vornehmlich zur Behandlung von Traumafolgestörungen eingesetzt wird. Sie wirkt durch die gleichzeitige Konzentration des Patienten sowohl auf die belastenden Erinnerungen als auch auf die bilaterale Stimulation, beispielsweise bilaterale Augenbewegungen. Es können jedoch alternativ auch andere bilaterale, wie zum Beispiel taktile oder akustische Stimulationen angewandt werden. Dabei beschränkt sich das Vorgehen im EMDR nicht auf diese bilaterale Stimulation, sondern folgt vielmehr einem komplexen und teilweise stark strukturierten Behandlungsplan. Dieser umfasst acht Behandlungsphasen. Mittlerweise steht eine Vielzahl von Effektivitätsstudien und Metaanalysen zur Verfügung. EMDR wird auch zunehmend bei anderen Störungen eingesetzt.
