Zusammenfassung
Ektoparasiten, also äußerlich im Bereich der Haut und Schleimhäute den Menschen befallende Parasiten, lassen sich in Infektionserreger übertragende Parasiten (sog. Vektoren) sowie Parasiten, deren Befall Krankheiten auslöst, einteilen. Zu letzteren kann man neben Läusen, Milben, Sandflöhen und Fliegenlarven auch verschiedene blutsaugende Wasser- und Landegel der Familie Hirudinidae zählen, die hier nicht besprochen werden.
