Zusammenfassung
Umfänglich intensive und dauerhafte Bewegungen sind das wichtigste Merkmal des Lebens. Sie sind für die körperliche und kognitive Entwicklung und lebenslang für die Gesundheit essenziell. Das sensomotorische System (SMS), bestehend aus Sensoren, dem peripheren und zentralen Nervensystem und der Muskulatur, generiert alle erdenklichen Bewegungen. Die benannten Strukturen sind funktionell kreisförmig miteinander verknüpft und immer als Ganzes in Funktion. Das Gehirn benötigt die Sensorinformationen für alle Empfindungen und Wahrnehmungen und die Bewegungsorganisation. Bewegung ist Kognition. Das Gehirn lernt durch ihre wiederholte Verarbeitung, indem es seine Struktur der Funktion anpasst.
Alle nicht zum SMS gehörenden Körperstrukturen sind für die Strukturentwicklung und -erhaltung auf die SMS-Aktivität zwingend angewiesen. Dies sind die Logistiksysteme, alle Bindegewebestrukturen und die lokalen und anabolen Hormonsysteme, welche alle Anstrengungen mit ausreichender Dauer und Intensität in gut funktionierende und belastbare Körperstrukturen verwandeln und erhalten. Diese Vorgänge finden im Zyklus Belastung-Adaptation statt. Der anabole schafft einen gesunden und der katabole einen atrophischen Körper, der zeitabhängig in Degeneration und eine Gruppe chronisch-degenerativer Erkrankungen, den „diseasome of physical inactivity“, übergeht.
