Zusammenfassung
In einer noch vor Kurzem unvorstellbaren Art und Weise durchlebt der Klettersport aktuell einen Höhenflug, der ihn in kürzester Zeit von einer Randsportart hin zu einem Breitensport befördert hat. Maßgeblichen Anteil daran hat aktuell der weltweite Boom der populären Subdisziplin Bouldern (Klettern ohne Seil in Absprunghöhe). Regelmäßige Weltcup-Livestreams, die Teilnahme an den World Games in Breslau (Polen) sowie die Aufnahme in das Programm der Olympischen Spiele im Jahr 2020 in Tokio unterstreichen das große öffentliche Interesse. Die künstlichen Kletteranlagen und Boulderhallen sind mittlerweile nicht mehr nur Treffpunkt für leistungsorientierte Sportler, sondern auch für Freizeit- und Feierabendsportler. Immer mehr Sportler zieht es in die Vertikale – sowohl in- als auch outdoor –, und der Trend ist ungebrochen. Mittlerweile klettern in Europa über 2 Millionen Menschen, in Deutschland über 300.000 (DAV 2011).
