Zusammenfassung
Intellectual Property – geistiges Eigentum – wird als Sammelbegriff für diejenigen Rechtsgebiete verwendet, die in Deutschland zumeist als gewerblicher Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht bezeichnet werden. Erst in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts hat man in Deutschland die Notwendigkeit, den gewerblichen Rechtsschutz gesetzlich zu verankern, allgemein anerkannt. Heutzutage können Patente und Marken als Bestandteil des geistigen Eigentums eines Unternehmens dessen marktwirtschaftliche Position maßgeblich bestimmen.
