Zusammenfassung
Kap. 2, sehr knapp für den Ingenieur, gibt eine Übersicht zur Synthese von Polymeren. Einzelne Kunststoffe werden den Polymerisationsarten zugeordnet. Die einzelnen Polymerisationen sind verkürzt nach Lehrmaterial von plastics europe abgedruckt. Den Ingenieur interessieren Einflüsse der Polymerisation auf Werkstoffeigenschaften. Neben den Thermoplasten werden auch Duroplaste erwähnt, danach abgewandelte Naturstoffe auf Cellulose-, Protein- und Ligninbasis beschrieben und verfahrenstechnische Prozesse der Kunststofferzeugung am Klassiker Polystyrol gezeigt. Kap. 2 ist weitestgehend unverändert gegenüber der 1. Auflage.
