Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel werden zunächst die Physiologie und Pathophysiologie des Harnsäurestoffwechsels dargestellt, um danach die Wirkungsweise der wichtigsten zur Prophylaxe und Behandlung der Gichterkrankung eingesetzten Pharmaka zu beschreiben. Zu diesen zählen Urikostatika (vor allem der Xanthinoxidasehemmer Allopurinol, der die Synthese von Harnsäure inhibiert), Urikosurika (wie Benzbromaron oder Probenecid, die die renale Ausscheidung von Harnsäure steigern) und Pharmaka, die beim akuten Gichtanfall eingesetzt werden (nichtsteroidale Antiphlogistika oder Colchicin). Der klinische Einsatz dieser Pharmaka wird am Beispiel des akuten Gichtanfalls und seiner Langzeitprophylaxe erläutert.
