Zusammenfassung
Das vorliegende Kapitel gibt einen Überblick über die anatomischen Voraussetzungen der Mundhöhle und den aktuellen Stand der zur Verfügung stehenden Möglichkeiten zur Rekonstruktion der Mundhöhle und der Zunge. Diese wird am häufigsten nach ablativen tumorchirurgischen Eingriffen notwendig und stellt den rekonstruktiv tätigen Chirurgen aufgrund der anatomischen Komplexität vor besondere Herausforderungen. Tumoren der Mundhöhle umfassen Neubildungen im Bereich der Zunge, des Mundbodens und der Wangeninnenseite und stellen die Mehrheit der Neoplasien im Mund-Kiefer-Gesichts-Bereich dar; häufigste Tumorentität ist das Plattenepithelkarzinom. Die Behandlung der Wahl stellt die chirurgische radikale Tumorresektion dar, wobei die entstehenden Defekte je nach Ausmaß der erfolgten Resektion mit schweren funktionellen und ästhetischen Einbußen verbunden sind. Ziel der rekonstruktiven Chirurgie ist eine möglichst komplette Wiederherstellung der funktionellen und ästhetischen Integrität und der Erhalt der Lebensqualität.
