Zusammenfassung
Dieser Beitrag wird keine grundlegenden Kenntnisse zum Prozessmanagement vermitteln, sondern vielmehr einen Blick auf einige wesentliche Eigenschaften dieser Art der Darstellung von (wertschöpfenden) Tätigkeiten werfen. Einen sehr guten Überblick über die mehr als 100-jährige Geschichte und über die Grundlagen des Prozessmanagements gibt Paul Harmon in „The Scope and Evolution of Business Process Management“ (Harmon 2015) oder „Business Process Management Common Body of Knowledge“ (EABPM 2014). Vielmehr widmen sich die Ausführungen der Frage, welchen Mehrwert die Modellierung von Prozessen, also geordneten und ggf. aufeinander aufbauenden Abläufen, über die gewöhnliche Anwendung hinaus haben kann. Zwei praktische Beispiele sollen dies illustrieren.
