Zusammenfassung
Historisch gesehen, weist die Alpinmedizin 2 markante Wurzeln auf: Zum einen war es das Bergrettungswesen, aus dem sich vor etwa 60 Jahren die Disziplin der alpinen Notfallmedizin entwickelte. Der zweite historisch bedeutsame Grundpfeiler heißt Mount Everest, dessen Erstbesteigung, ebenfalls vor 60 Jahren, durch die junge Disziplin der Höhenmedizin erst ermöglicht wurde. Die übrige Themenfülle, mit der wir uns befassen, ist eine breite Palette von alpinmedizinischen Inhalten. Diese stellen aber keine Neuerfindungen der modernen Medizin dar, sondern bestehen aus deren Adaptierung an die oft dramatisch schiefe Ebene der Berge.
