Zusammenfassung

Schlafstörungen treten bei verschiedenen Krankheiten auf. Sie können sowohl Symptom als auch als Ursache oder aber beides zugleich sein. Eine Erkrankung kann die Ursache für eine Schlafstörung sein, die wiederum entweder die primäre Krankheit verstärkt oder aber ein weiteres Krankheitsbild verursacht. Hier die Kausalitäten offenzulegen und den unspezifischen Klagen über nicht erholsamen Schlaf einen Namen zu geben ist das Ziel einer sorgfältigen Anamnese und Diagnostik. Zunächst aber werden einige grundlegende Aspekte, die im Zusammenhang mit gestörtem Schlaf stehen, näher beleuchtet.
