Zusammenfassung

Die rheumatoide Arthritis (RA, synonym: chronische Polyarthritis) ist die bekannteste entzündliche Gelenkerkrankung. Etwa 0,5(–1)% der Bevölkerung sind betroffen. Es handelt sich um eine chronisch fortschreitende Entzündung mit bevorzugtem symmetrischem Gelenkbefall. Unbehandelt führt sie meist zur Gelenkzerstörung. Auch eine Beteiligung von Sehnen, Gefäßen und inneren Organen ist möglich. Seit der Etablierung von Biologika in der Behandlung der RA hat sich der Krankheitsverlauf in den meisten Fällen entscheidend verbessert. Der Beitrag informiert ausführlich über diagnostische und therapeutische Schritte und ist untermauert durch praktische Fallbeispiele.
