Zusammenfassung
Die Demographie stellt die onkologische Versorgung vor immer größere Herausforderungen. Durch neue Substanzen und Wirkmechanismen eröffneten sich in den letzten Jahren neue Optionen, um diesen effektiv zu begegnen. So hat z. B. die PET/CT-Diagnostik eine Bedeutungszunahme – auch im Bereich der Therapiesteuerung – erfahren. Nichtsdestotrotz vollzieht sich die Verankerung wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse in die Gesundheitspolitik weiterhin mit starker Verzögerung. Darüber hinaus erweist sich die fehlende Angleichung an internationale Normen in Bezug auf Vergütungsstandards durch gesetzliche Krankenkassen weiterhin als Hemmnis für moderne Diagnostikstandards in Deutschland. Am Beispiel der USA zeigt sich der Aufholbedarf der Versorgung mit PET/CT in Europa. Dennoch wird dieses Diagnostikverfahren in allen europäischen Ländern außer Deutschland von den sozialen Gesundheitssystemen für wichtige Indikationen erstattet.
