Bei Kindern und Jugendlichen tritt nach wie vor fast ausschließlich ein insulinpflichtiger Typ-1-Diabetes auf. Daneben sollte jedoch nicht vergessen werden, dass sich auch andere Formen des Diabetes mellitus bereits im Kindes- und Jugendalter manifestieren können.
