Zusammenfassung
In der Neurorehabilitation wird die Behandlung des Gesichts oft zugunsten der sog. Schluckproblematik vernachlässigt oder auf ein Minimum in Form eines Heimübungsprogramms vor dem Spiegel reduziert. Zu Unrecht, denn das Gesicht – ein Teil unseres Körpers, den wir nicht verstecken können – „verrät“ oft den Patienten mit neurogener Schädigung. Auch unser kommunikatives Verhalten und unsere sozialen Interaktionen werden – ob wir wollen oder nicht – durch fehlende, überschießende oder allgemein von der Normalität abweichende Gesichtsbewegungen unseres Gegenübers beeinflusst. Nach einer Einführung in die Anatomie und Physiologie wird dem Leser die Untersuchung und Behandlung des Gesichts auf der Basis des F.O.T.T.- Konzepts nahegebracht und verdeutlicht, wie man mit einem Patienten mit zentralen oder peripheren Läsionen der Gesichtsnerven funktionell und alltagsorientiert arbeiten kann. Für operative Maßnahmen und medikamentöse Behandlung verweisen wir auf die entsprechende Literatur.
