Der Soziologische Neo-Institutionalismus – Weiterentwicklungen, Kritik und aktuelle Herausforderungen

Zusammenfassung

Der soziologische Neo-Institutionalismus bildet die derzeit vielleicht wichtigste Variante institutionalistischer Theorien. Mit starkem Bezug auf Organisationen und Staaten interessiert er sich in besonderer Weise für kulturelle Prägung und für Ähnlichkeiten der Entwicklung. Der soziologische Neo-Institutionalismus hat sich in ständiger Auseinandersetzung mit anderen Ansätzen der Soziologie entwickelt. In diesem Beitrag geht es deshalb sowohl um seine Entstehung und um seine Grundlagen als auch um verschiedene Weiterentwicklungen und deren Kritik. Daran wird deutlich, dass der Neo-Institutionalismus kein statisches Gebilde, sondern durch unterschiedliche, teils überraschende Entwicklungen gekennzeichnet ist, die auch im Hinblick auf aktuelle gesellschaftliche Themen spezifisch neo-institutionalistische Forschungsperspektiven eröffnen.
