Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick zu theoretischen Ansätzen im Bereich Migration und Flucht und ihre Entwicklung in den letzten Jahrzehnten. Dabei geht es einerseits um Versuche, die Ursachen und Motive für Migration zu fassen und andererseits um die individuelle Ebene der Migrant_innen und ihre Entscheidungsprozesse. Diese sind im Grundsatz jeweils auch für Rückkehr- und Fluchtmigrationen anwendbar. Weiterhin werden Definitionen vorgestellt, die der statistischen Erfassung von Migration dienen. Darauf aufbauend werden die aktuellen Zahlen zu Flucht und Migration auf weltweiter Ebene, in der Europäischen Union und für Deutschland vorgestellt.
